I started working on computers in 1975 while I was enlisted in the US Navy. I was an "ET" or known as a "Tweet", Navy slang for Electronics Technician.
I used my "GI Bill" while I was in the Navy and attended classes to get my Associates Degree in Electronics.
When I finished my 6 year enlistment, and I might add that I never was aboard a ship, I went back to my home town of Denver Colorado and started working for
Bell Labs/Western Electric. I stayed with Bell Labs for a little over 3 years and was laid off. Within a month I started working for IBM. I must have
impressed someone because I was one of only 40 hired at that time. They told us there were over 3,000 applicants. During my tenure at IBM I was involved in
many sides of the business. I worked in manufacturing building and testing IBM copiers, I worked in Copier Research & Development labs, I was a trainer and
educator. I wrote technical documents, repaired electronic circuit cards, I did programming, was a technical manager, an HR manager and the list goes on.
I bought my first personal computer in 1982. Of course it was an IBM computer. Within a year I bought a second computer.
During my time at IBM I took many computer classes, several Microsoft Computer Certification classes working towards my MCSE Certification and as well I
was taking classes for Novell software, a Microsoft competitor. Of course Novell eventually lost out to Microsoft and I was once again a victim of the economy
and was laid off by IBM after 17 years of service. IBM had moved me from Boulder Colorado to Charlotte NC in 1998, so now I was looking for a new job. I found another
job as a Network Specialist contractor and traveled all around the East Coast helping update and install Networks and Computer Systems. I quit that job to be
my own boss.I was going to be a commercial embroiderer. Which I still do today. Embroidery allows me to use my many talents from computer design to web sites
and computer programming. In 2003 my wife and I moved to Corolla in the Outer Banks after purchasing a business in the Tim Buck II Shopping Village. At the
end of 2006 we purchased an existing home in the Monteray Shores Community in Corolla and are permanent, year round residents. I'm a professional business person,
technically inclined, competent and have a knack of being able to fix almost anything. My wife and I know many people in the Corolla area and community and we also
help and support Feline Hope, a local non-kill feline rescue organization that helps care for and control the cat population here in the OBX. No doubt there is
more information here that you probably want to know or care to know, but I hope that you have a better understanding of me (no jokes about my literal talents please)
and feel that you can trust me to do business with. Thank You. Wes
